Dr. Balamurli Krishna

Dr. Balamurli Krishna, a student of Parapalli Ramakrishnaiah Pantulu , was born in 1930 in Andra Pradesh. The gifted maestro has composed a range of Kritis, Padams, Varnams, Tilanas and also new Ragas.The gifted Carnatic vocalist has also a number of books to his credit. He has served on the staff of AIR and was the Principal of the College of Music and Dance at Vijayawada. He received the Padmashree in 1971 and was also the recipient of the Padma Vibhushan award, besides the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award(1975) , the Sangeeta Kalanidhi Award from the Music Academy, Madras, (1979), the National Award as the best playback singer and music director and also the prestigious Hridaynath Mangeshkar Award.
