The popular vocalist, known for his rendering of Khayal and devotional compositions was born in 1930. He was trained in Hindustani vocal music by his elder brother Pandit Maniram of the Mewaki Gharana.Panditji has also composed music for dance-dramas and films.Other artistes...He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1975, the title of Sangeet Martand by the Haryana Government (1976),the Sangeet Natak Academy Award (1987) and the Padma Bhushan(1990). He is also a recipient of the Government of Maharashtra's Gaurav Puraskar, the Dinanath Mangeshkar Award, and the Allaudin Sangeet Ratna Award.
